Accessing the CCLP

This section provides answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about accessing the CCLP. If you do not see a topic covered, you can submit an idea for a FAQ. As of September 11, 2020, the CCLP requires FileMaker Pro 18 or 19 to be installed. If you are working remotely you connect with Campus VPN prior to trying to connect to CCLP. 



Q: What do I need to access the CCLP?
A:
 Beginning on September 11, 2020 you will need FileMaker Pro 18 or 19 in order to access the CCLP, and a wired network connection or connection via Campus VPN. For Campus VPN you need to be using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. You will need to configure FileMaker Pro to access the CCLP. Contact Corinne for configuration details.


Q: I need a CCLP account.
A:

Q: How can I check what FileMaker Pro version I am running?
A:
With FileMaker Pro running, click on the leftmost FileMaker menu item FileMaker Pro, then choose About FileMaker Pro. A window will open that lists the FileMaker Pro version.


Q: I have a new computer and need to access the CCLP. I already have a CCLP account.
A:
Beginning on September 11, 2020 you will need FileMaker Pro 18 or 19 in order to access the CCLP, and a wired network connection or connection via Campus VPN. For Campus VPN you need to be using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. You will need to configure FileMaker Pro to access the CCLP. Contact Corinne for configuration details.


Q: I have a new computer and need to access the CCLP but FileMaker Pro is not currently installed on my new computer.
A:
If your new computer does not have FileMaker Pro installed, you will need to create an IT Request ticket. Beginning on September 11, 2020, in order to use the CCLP, you will need to have FileMaker Pro 18 or 19 installed; you will also need to be running Campus VPN prior to connecting to CCLP. In your IT Request ticket, please specify that you had FileMaker Pro on your previous computer. You will need to configure FileMaker Pro to access the CCLP. Q: How can I get the CCLP launch icon?
A:
To request the CCLP launch icon, contact Corinne FileMaker Pro must be configured to access the FileMaker server in order to access the CCLP. Contact Corinne for the configuration instructions. Please note that the CCLP Launch icon was revised on August 7, 2019. The CCLP Launch Icon will work with FileMaker Pro version 18 and 19.

Please Note: If you have the old CCLP Launch Icon (OpenCCLP.fmp12) on your desktop or computer dock you should move it to the trash, then save the new CCLP Launch Icon (that you received from Corinne via email) to either your Desktop or computer Dock.


Q: When I click on the CCLP Launch Icon I am getting a certificate error.
A:
You may be using an older version of the CCLP Launch Icon. The CCLP Launch Icon was revised on 8/7/19. You should be using the CCLP Launch Icon that was emailed to you. For more information contact Corinne.


Q: I am receiving a Connection Failed message when I try to connect to CCLP.
A:
This error message indicates that you are having network connectivity issues or that the FileMaker Pro client is not configured to access the FileMaker Server.

Check Your Network Confguration (wired connections) or Wireless Conections:

In order to access the CCLP, you need to have a wired network connection or you need to use Campus VPN prior to starting FileMaker Pro. For more information on Campus VPN, see these resources:

If you are using a wired network connection, check your network cable to make sure it is properly attached to your computer. If you disable wireless and cannot connect to the network from any application (or from the internet), then you are having network issues.

Check the Host Configuration of Your FileMaker Pro Client:

If you have a new computer and/or new FileMaker Pro installation, you may still need to configure FileMaker Pro to access the FileMaker Server or check your existing host configuration of FileMaker Pro. If you have already configured FileMaker Pro and have never connected to CCLP, make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces in the host name. As of September 11, 2020 you must use FileMaker Pro 18 or 19 to connect to the CCLP. You must also be using Campus VPN if you are working remotely.


Q: My computer OS has been upgraded to Mojave or Catalina and now FileMaker Pro won't load.
A:
If you have Mojave or Catalina and you want to load FileMaker, you must have FileMaker Pro version 18 or 19. If you are working remotely you must also be using Campus VPN.


Q: I am normally able to log in to the CCLP but am not able to now.
A:
To log in to the CCLP you must either have a wired network connection or be using Campus VPN (if you are using wireless). As of September 11, 2020 the CCLP requires FileMaker Pro 18 or 19 to be installed. If you are working remotely you connect with Campus VPN prior to trying to connect to CCLP. 

  • If you are using a wired network connection, make sure your network cable is well connected to your computer and to the wall network outlet.
  • If you are using a wireless connection or are working remotely, you need to be using Campus VPN.
  • If you were able to connect to CCLP earlier in the day, you may have been logged out of FileMaker. Please exit FileMaker, then start up FileMaker again.

Q: I forgot my CCLP password.
A:

Q: I need to access the CCLP remotely.
A:
To access the CCLP remotely you will need to be using a computer that has FileMaker Pro version 18 or 19 and you will need to use Campus VPN. 

  1. To use Campus VPN, you will need to have the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client installed and configured to connect to the end point vpn.ucsc.edu (see information on installing Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client).
  2. Connect to Campus VPN with the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and then start FileMaker and access the CCLP.

    If you have a new computer and you have never accessed the CCLP from your computer, please contact Corinne for FileMaker configuration instructions to access the FileMaker Server and the CCLP.

How to Connect to the CCLP Using Wireless
A:
To connect to the CCLP using a wireless connection, you will need to be using a computer that has FileMaker Pro version 18 or 19 and you will need to use Campus VPN. 

  1. To use Campus VPN, you will need to have the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client installed and configured to connect to the end point vpn.ucsc.edu (see information on installing Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client).
  2. Connect to Campus VPN with the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and then start FileMaker and access the CCLP.

    If you have a new computer and you have never accessed the CCLP from your computer, please contact Corinne for FileMaker configuration instructions to access the FileMaker Server and the CCLP.

Q: I Use Wireless to Connect to CCLP but I'm Having Campus VPN Issues
A:
If you are unable to access Campus VPN, please submit a support ticket with the ITS Support Center at https://itrequest.ucsc.edu, or by email help@ucsc.edu or telephone 459-HELP(4357). In your ticket indicate that you are using Campus VPN. 


Q: I need edit access to another department or subject
A:
Please contact Corinne if you need edit access to another department or subject.


Q: I am receiving a connection error when I try to connect to the CCLP. The file cclp.fmp12 could not be opened: The host does not support this version of FileMaker.
A:
As of September 11, 2020 you will need FileMaker Pro version 18 or 19 to connect to the CCLP.


Q: How can I request CCLP training?
A:
 Please contact Corinne to request to be enrolled in the next scheduled CCLP training or to be placed on the waitlist for a future date.
