Viewing Catalog Records

From Cat Dev, you can view the matched AIS catalog record (if one exists), by clicking on the AIS Cat tab. Here are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about viewing AIS Catalog records from Cat Dev. If you do not see a topic covered, you can submit an idea for a FAQ.

Q: When I look at the AIS Cat tab from the Cat Dev screen I don't see the cross listings.
A: The AIS Cat tab of the Cat Dev area will only show course offering 1. You can click on the blue arrow from the AIS Cat tab area to view the record from the AIS Cat menu option.

Q: In Cat Dev, what does Eff Yr/Term and End Yr/Term refer to?
A:
Eff Yr/Term refers to the first term the Cat Dev revision becomes effective. The End Yr/Term refers to the last term that revision is effective. The values are expressed in four digits (i.e. 2208 refers to Fall 2020, 2210 refers to Winter 2021, 2212 refers to Spring 2021, and 2214 refers to Summer 2021).

  • If the Cat Dev revision does not have a status of Suspended or Cancelled, then the Eff Yr/Term refers to the first term that revision is effective for scheduling. If the End Yr/Term is also filled in, then the range of terms that the revision is available for scheduling are all terms in the range from the Eff Yr/Term to (and including) the End Yr/Term. For example, an Eff Yr/Term of 2208 means the revision is first available for scheduling starting Fall 2020. If the End Yr/Term is filled in with 2214, the revision is avaiable for scheduling through Summer 2021.
  • If the Cat Dev revision is Suspended, the Eff Yr/Term applies to the first term that Cat Dev revision is suspended.
  • If the Cat Dev revision is Cancelled, the Eff Yr/Term applies to the term the Cat Dev revision became cancelled.

Q: When I click on the AIS Cat tab there is no AIS record that matches the Cat Dev record. I'm sure there is an AIS Cat record. Why is there no match to the Cat Dev record?
A:
In order for a Cat Dev record to match with an AIS Cat record the following must be true:

  • The course offering number must be the same
  • The department must be the same
  • The subject must be the same
  • The course number must be the same
  • The effective year term of the Cat Dev record must be equal to or greater than the effective date of the AIS Cat record.

If any of the above conditions is not true then there will not be a matching record. For example, if the first four conditions are true but the effective date of the Cat Dev record is earlier than the effective date of the AIS Cat record, then there will not be a match.
