AIS Catalog FAQs

Q: I am searching for a course that was renumbered in AIS. When I do a FIND, I am not seeing a record with the former course number in the result set. How can I perform this search?

A: Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the AIS Cat menu so it is active.

  2. Click the Find Course button.

  3. Click on the AIS Cat Hist tab (in the tabbed section midway down the screen).

  4. Click in the Course Number field.

  5. Type in the Course Number (make sure you type in leading zeroes if the course number is less than 100).

  6. Press Return to initiate the find.

  7. If the former course number has been reused for other courses you may get more than one course in your result set. To navigate to another course record, use the arrows at the top of the screen.

  8. Once you find the course you are looking for, you will notice that historical records are listed in the AIS Cat Hist tabbed area.

  9. To view a historical record in detail, click on the blue arrow next to that historical record in the AIS Cat Hist tabbed area. This will display a listing of the attributes of each of the historical records for that catalog record (the most recent revision is listed first). To view an earlier revision, click on the arrows at the top of the screen.

  10. If you wish to print out the record, choose File | Print (this should print out the current record).
